Settings to check for each field
- Field Label: the question or label shown to the person completing the form.
- Description: brief instructions shown near the field.
- Required: turn on only when the information is genuinely mandatory.
- Choices: make options unambiguous and consistent across similar forms.
- Visibility: use hidden or administrative fields only when you understand how the data will be populated and used.
- Conditional Logic: controls whether the field is shown based on other answers.
Good CHKM8 field labels
Use specific labels such as “Asset ID”, “Is the equipment safe to use?”, “Describe the fault” and “Upload evidence photograph”. Avoid labels such as “Other”, “Details” or “Question 1” unless their meaning is obvious from the surrounding section.
Common mistake
Changing a label on a field used by notifications, exports or integrations may affect how administrators recognise the data. The field ID usually remains stable, but review notifications, conditional rules and exports after changing a field label.
