Configure Competency Expiry Widget

Component

chkm8-competency-expiry-widget is a CHKM8 custom competency expiry widget. The actual data source and configurable fields must be verified against the installed version.

Setup and validation

  1. Confirm the widget/component is active.
  2. Identify where competency records are entered and how the expiry date is stored.
  3. Check that the record has an operative identifier, competency name and a valid expiry date.
  4. Open the dashboard where the widget is displayed.
  5. Test with a controlled record that expires in the future and, if permitted in test data, a record that is already expired.
  6. Verify the widget’s displayed status and date against the underlying record.
  7. Check who can view competency details and whether the widget links to a restricted record.

Common causes of missing or incorrect items

  • Expiry date missing or saved in an unexpected format.
  • Duplicate operative records or mismatched identifiers.
  • Date/time-zone differences near midnight.
  • Widget filters or role restrictions excluding the record.

Do not treat the widget alone as proof that a person is competent for a task; verify the underlying certificate and project requirements.
