Manage Plugins and Add-Ons Safely

Before installing or updating

  1. Confirm the purpose of the plugin and whether the feature is already supplied by an existing component.
  2. Check compatibility with the installed WordPress, PHP and Gravity Forms versions.
  3. Back up the site and database before changing a live site.
  4. Install from a trusted source and verify the plugin name and vendor.
  5. Activate the plugin and complete any required settings.
  6. Test the exact workflow the plugin is intended to support.

Gravity Forms add-ons

Some fields and features, such as the official Signature field, are available only when their add-on is installed and active. Importing a form that uses an add-on does not install that add-on automatically.

Update troubleshooting

If an update breaks a workflow, record the error and version, restore service using your approved rollback/backup process, and test the plugin in staging before retrying. Do not leave an abandoned plugin active simply because the site appears to work.
