Set a field as required
- Edit the form.
- Select the field.
- Enable the Required setting where appropriate.
- Add a short description if the user needs to know the expected format.
- Save and preview the form.
- Submit a test with the field empty and confirm the user receives a clear validation message.
Required fields with conditional logic
If a field is only shown on a particular path, test that path carefully. For example, a fault description may be required when “Fault found” is selected, but should not block submission when the field is hidden on the “Serviceable” path.
Avoid over-validation
Do not make optional information mandatory merely to fill a report. Use required validation for data needed to complete the workflow or meet a defined recordkeeping requirement.
